Due to the extreme heat advisory this afternoon, all RSU 12 schools will be closing at 12:30 pm today. Our buildings do not have air conditioning and many classrooms are expected to get over 100 degrees. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this unexpected early dismissal.

If your child is looking for a sport or club to join, we currently have a few options available. Soccer starts this week for 6th-8th grade. X-country has already started and takes place at Windsor Elementary School for 5th-8th grade. Walking Club will be starting on September 19th at Palermo on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on the nature trails. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no

Reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, June 13th, there is a referendum on the proposed RSU 12 school district budget. Please remember to vote at your local polling stations.
This a reminder that if you are a resident of RSU 12, then the RSU 12 District Budget meeting will take place this Wednesday, May 24th, at 6:30 pm in the Chelsea Elementary School gym. Residents will learn about the school district budget and vote whether or not to approve the budget proposed by the RSU 12 School Board. Please attend this important meeting.

*** Detective Royle from the Maine State Police Special Investigations and Computer Crimes Unit will discuss current issues affecting children today regarding Smartphones, Cyberbullying, Sexting and Sextortion, Gaming, Online Enticement, Live Streaming, Peer-to-Peer and Social Media. The current trends these issues present to children, how parents can identify them, some handy tips 'n' tricks and how parents can approach these issues with their children to protect them online.
Please be aware that some RSU 12 buses may be late this morning due to trees down or flooding.
Reminder: The Finance Committee and the Superintendent are holding a series of public budget meetings in order to present the proposed draft school budget and collect questions and input about the budget from RSU 12 citizens. The Alfond Boys and Girls Club Daycare at Palermo School will still be open this afternoon.

Gifted and Talented Notice
Spring referrals for the Gifted and Talented Program are being accepted from March 1st to March 15th, 2023. Please note that the window closes on March 15th. If you feel your child excels or has the potential to excel beyond his/her age-level peers in academics or art/music (VPA) you can make a referral for the Gifted and Talented Program. A referral can be made by a teacher, staff member, or parent. We do recommend, however, you consult with your child's teacher before making a referral. Please contact Hollie Hilton, the GT Coordinator, at hhilton@svrsu.og for a referral form link for either academics or visual art/music (VPA).
