On Wednesday, January 23rd at 6:30 pm, Lincoln Academy will host an Eighth Grade Info Night to assist families of incoming LA freshman and transfer students with the registration and course selection process. Guidance counselors will provide introductory information and an opportunity to answer individual questions about registering for classes at Lincoln Academy.
“In the past several years we have had increasing interest from eighth grade parents who want to talk about the nuts and bolts of registering for high school,” explained Lincoln Academy’s Director of Counseling and Studies, Sarah Wills-Viega. “Eighth Grade Family Night, which happened in November, includes a tour and overview of Lincoln Academy, for families to get a sense of the school’s campus layout and educational philosophies. This event in January gives prospective students and parents a chance to dig deeper into questions about registration, scheduling, and curriculum decisions, including choices about course levels and electives. Last year this event was very well-attended, and we expect a high turnout again this year.”
At the January 23rd event, incoming LA families will have a chance to hear from guidance counselors who are familiar with the LA curriculum. “This is an opportunity for parents to learn more about the course selection process,” continued Wills-Viega. “Most incoming students meet with LA Guidance Counselors when we visit their sending schools, but this evening offers the opportunity for parents to participate in the process as well.”
No registration is necessary for Eighth Grade Info Night. Interested families should plan to arrive at the LA Dining Commons at 6:30 pm. The session will include an overview of the registration and course selection process, and the opportunity to ask questions. To inquire about the January 23rd event contact the LA Guidance Office at 563-3596 ext. 125 or 128.
