A message to 8th grade parents from Mr. Deblois.
Good Afternoon:
On Monday, March 27th, all 8th grade students will be having their pictures taken for their 8th Grade Celebration portfolio. The portfolio is presented during the 8th Grade Celebration at the close of the school year. It includes a certificate of promotion as well as this updated picture of the individual child. I send this message along because this portfolio becomes a lasting memento for families and, hopefully, the clothing they choose represents what you'd want to commemorate this important event.. With that said, I will not be the judge of what is appropriate or what isn't appropriate for this photo. If you're happy with the outfit they select, or if they wear a hat for the picture, that is for you to decide. My note today is to remind you that these pictures are being taken on Monday and to have you discuss your expectations with your 8th grader.
Thanks!
Mark

RE: Revised Bus Routes with new times
As of Monday, March 20th, WHES will be moving to a three bus run for the remainder of the school year. This is a result of losing one of our drivers and finding that we have no substitute drivers available to us. Please review the new routes like you would at the beginning of a new school year as the driver and the pick up and drop off times for your child(ren) may now be different. In consolidating four bus runs into three, we have done our best to minimize the changes for the largest number of students. However, some of your children will experience some change in either the pick up / drop off times or the length of their time on the bus. Just as with the beginning of a new school year, please plan to be out to the bus stop ten (10) minutes prior to the posted pick up time and the same for the afternoon drop off time as these are estimated times and they can be impacted by the number of students taking the bus on a given day as well as other factors.
We will continue to review the effectiveness of our new three bus run system and will inform parents of any further changes. Please feel free to share questions, concerns or suggestions for improving our transportation runs. Your cooperation and understanding are always appreciated.

We are now accepting PreK applications and Kindergarten Registrations for the 2023/2024 school year. Please call the school at 549-7691 or email Amy Perkins at aperkins@svrsu.org for more information. To be eligible for PreK, students must be 4 yrs old on or before October 15th. Kindergarten students must be 5 yrs old on or before October 15th.

We are accepting applications for a bus driver position.
We also have a great need for substitutes.
Being a substitute is great for anyone looking to get their foot in the door for a career at a school, for retired persons, stay at home parents, part time workers looking for extra income and those who hate driving to work on snowy days. Subs are needed in all areas including teachers, ed techs, custodial, kitchen, office and bus drivers.

All after school activities are canceled for this afternoon. This includes drama club. If you need to make alternate drop off destinations for your child, please call the school before 2pm. Other wise students will be dropped off at their normal after school destination.

Information on our Drama Club starting tomorrow. If you child will be staying, please let the office know by note, email or phone call before dismissal tomorrow.

We met our goal for our pet food drive! Today we have 160 items total. A new challenge has been wagered. If we can collect a total of 300 items before Friday (that is 140 more) then we will be able to tape Mr. Deblois to the wall as well as Nurse Kendra.

If your child is participating in the drama program after school on Thursdays, starting tomorrow, please remember to send them in with a note letting the office staff know they can stay. You may also email Amy Perkins with permission at aperkins@svrsu.org.

Dear Whitefield School Community,
Whitefield School loves to read! Our readers have read over 23,000 minutes as of this Monday morning! There are 3 more days of reading. Students have until 6PM on Wednesday, March 1st to enter minutes. Don’t forget to enter those minutes! You will not be able to enter minutes later than Wednesday, no exceptions!
Donations can still be accepted AFTER Wednesday, for up to 1 week. You are encouraged to share on Facebook (again!), email grandparents, family members, and friends, and send text messages to ask for donations. This can all be done easily from your readers home page. We have raised an AMAZING $4080.00 dollars so far! Let’s see if we can make it to $5000 in the next week!
Prizes will be distributed in the next two weeks and remind your readers that everyone who gets to 500 minutes wins a prize bag!
None of this would be possible without parents, guardians, teachers, and staff. So thank you for supporting the read-a-thon!
Whitefield PTA

Don't forget our pet food drive going on this week.

All RSU 12 afterschool activities are canceled this afternoon due to the icy road conditions predicted later this afternoon.
